Rama Duwaji - Build a Looping Annimation (Webex meeting)

As part of the 'New Worlds' series (celebrating creativity and its role in building a better world) with ItsNiceThat, Rama will share how she explores themes of transformation and will show us how to turn pictures into simple-looking animations.

Rama Duwahi - Illustrator and Animator

Duwajis art explores ideas of community and authenticity, aiming to challenge western beauty ideals. Born in Syria and now based in New York, she's created work for the likes of Tate Modern, the BBC and Spotify Arabia.

A commissioned illustration to go alongside an article on a Syrian woman filming life occupied under ISIS from through her niqab, to spread awareness about the issue.

Webex Meeting

Accidentally screen recorded these clips from the talk, without audio so may be helpful if you know sign language haha

Rama Duwaji was presenting her 15-minute animation, made on pro-create, where she talked through her technique and the tools she uses to animated sketches. Here she was animating a self-portrait into a leaf placed in the centre of a glass of.
This was a helpful insight into how to use pro-create and how Rama translates her ethos/opinion into her illustrations.
