Task 1

Presentation

My first practitioner is Kris Andrew Small, a graphic designer/illustrator who's work uses elements of collage, animation and bold bespoke typefaces - his style of working is widely recognised and his signature bold designs are commissioned regularly as to emulate the same energy and impact with their product at the centre of the design. He has also worked on a number of installations - with his signature style again being presented but in a new format.

Creating a signature style which is so recognisable is admirable and is something i'd like to emulate in my process, as I want the audience to have this sense of clarity when viewing my work. Although I don't want to be pigeon holed to one process/style of work.

While Kris Andrew Smalls work is bold and has a lot of motion in it, his website contrasts this with a sleek design that allows for the work to stand out and not be overshadowed by too much noise, allowing it firmly be presented in the foreground of the page.

The second practitioner I looked at was Jimmy Turrel, his work combines elements of collage screen-printing and digital techniques. I found his work has a distinctive look to it that is only attainable through combining the use of analogue and digital methods of working.

Similar to Kris Andrew Small, Jimmy Turrell's website has a simple plain background that compliments his noisy. full designs emphasising his work and placing it at the top of the visual hierarchy of the page.
